Getting Started with the Game Dev HQ Internship
Salutations, my name is Sean Alexander Kaiulani Chun and today I am going to be sharing my experience in getting started with the Game Dev HQ Internship with you. Honestly, I had no experience in coding prior to joining the Game Dev Internship and have been on a computer in the last three days more than I have been in the last three years. If you read my previous blog you know that prior to beginning the Game Dev HQ Internship, I did not have an adequate computer to run the programs necessary to participate in the Game Dev HQ Internship. Needless to say, I ran into challenges right off the bat this morning when I started progressing through the 2D Development Course work, but with the support of my friend Aaron Carey I was able to make some progress today, although I still need to vastly improve my understanding of the C# programing language. Slowly moving step by step through each video lecture by Jonathan Weinberger’s in reference to Jonathan Weinberger’s getting started guide, I am reminded of the saying “The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones” — Confucius. In spite of being intimidated by facing such a substantial task as to earning a Game Developer Certification in 30 days, I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to be able to take the first small steps to accomplishing that task. This afternoon Jonathan really opened my eyes to the vision of possibilities of growth that I may earn throughout the Game Dev HQ Internship. From becoming a Game Developer and Software Engineer to learning how to market myself and become my own brand, I am excited to see how far I can go with these skills. Furthermore, I am appreciative to be apart of the Game Dev HQ team and am relived that after the end of the Game Dev HQ Internship that we will be able to continue learning and growing within the Game Dev HQ community.
Thank you.
